Iran-India Gas Pipeline

NIGC/GAIL Joint Venture decided to investigate the feasibility of building a natural gas transmission pipeline from South of Iran to India. The project comprises of two phases:

Phase 1 - The study of technical feasibility and viability of the offshore section of the pipeline including the offshore route survey covering collection of sufficient information for practical installation and operation of the submarine pipeline in the difficult areas.

Phase 2 - The study of the following onshore areas:

        • Gas receiving facilities from the offshore field of the Persian Gulf.
        • Gas treating facilities including gas sweetening, sulphur recovery, NGL extraction and NGL fractionation.
        • Harbor and jetties for sulphur export.
        • Infrastructure including residential facilities.
        • Onshore pipeline within Iran.
        • Transport studies for selecting optimum scheme for pipeline and compressor stations configuration.
        • Gas receiving station in India.

The work was assigned by client to a joint venture comprising of Pipeline Engineering International (PLE), Sazeh Consultants, Mentor Project Engineering and Parsons Group Company Limited (U.K.)

The scope of the work included:

        • Data acquisition, including offshore pipeline route survey.
        • Desktop studies and engineering design.
        • Cost evaluation and economic studies.

Sazeh Consultants  responsibilities included:

  • Phase 1 -  Hydraulic study of offshore Pakistan.
  • Phase 2
        • Gas transport study
        • Dehydration
        • NGL extraction
        • NGL fractionation
        • Sweetening
        • Onshore pipeline
        • Compressor stations
        • Infra structure study and design
        • Harbor and jetty study and design, terminals facilities
